Las Hermanas Women’s Retreat started in 1982 at the San Luis Rey Mission in Oceanside, California with only 30 women. For over 4 decades, our retreat has been available to approximately 170 women.
Our retreat started as an AA retreat and has evolved into welcoming all 12-step recovery groups.
After consistently maximizing occupancy at the venue we booked at for over 20 years, we recently relocated to Whispering Winds because we are growing! Our new venue can host up to 300 women, and our hope is to fill it up!
With alcoholism and addiction rising exponentially we feel it is our responsibility to expand women's recovery by educating and building bonds. Our hope that those who attend the Las Hermanas retreat take their experience and create a ripple effect within the community as a whole.
The atmosphere is peaceful and amazing, however it is the women who occupy the camp for the weekend that bring the true beauty and power to this retreat. We are all recovering from something and recovery is better when we can do it together! All women in recovery are welcome.
With alcoholism and addictions on the rise it is paramount that we remain active and vigilant with reaching out our hands, welcoming women into recovery. We all have experienced the loneliness that comes with alcoholism and addiction. We have learned that even when out of practice with our substance of choice, we can still experience that loneliness, feeling separate from life; alone. We have also experienced our disease manifest in other ways ~ shopping, gambling, food, sex and relationships…. We have learned that recovery is not linear; we know because we live it, we fight it and we attempt to overcome it - just for today - one day at a time.
We are women who come from all walks of life, of all different colors, cultures and ages. We welcome you to a life changing weekend with us. We welcome you to the tribe of Las Hermanas.
